Wall Mount Tub Faucet Replacement
Replacing a wall mount tub faucet is a relatively simple plumbing project that can be completed in a few hours. By following these step-by-step instructions, you can save yourself the cost of hiring a plumber.
Step 1: Gather Your Tools and Materials
Before you begin, gather the following tools and materials:
- Adjustable wrench
- Basin wrench
- Channel locks
- Screwdriver
- New wall mount tub faucet
- Teflon tape
- Plumber's putty
Step 2: Turn Off the Water Supply
Before you begin any work, turn off the water supply to the tub. This is usually done by closing the shut-off valves located under the sink.
Step 3: Remove the Old Faucet
Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the faucet handles in place. Once the nuts are loose, remove the handles. Use the basin wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the faucet body in place. Once the nuts are loose, remove the faucet body.
Step 4: Install the New Faucet
Apply a bead of plumber's putty to the base of the new faucet body. Place the faucet body in the hole in the wall and tighten the nuts until they are snug. Apply a few wraps of Teflon tape to the threads of the faucet handles. Screw the handles onto the faucet body and tighten them until they are snug.
Step 5: Turn On the Water Supply
Turn on the water supply to the tub and check for leaks. If there are any leaks, tighten the nuts on the faucet handles or the faucet body until the leaks stop.
Step 6: Enjoy Your New Faucet
Once the faucet is installed and there are no leaks, you can enjoy your new tub faucet.
